Stephanie M Vaughan is a contemporary artist whose work explores psychology, identity and the relationship between culture and personal experience. Inspired by a lifelong curiosity about what it means to be human, her practice examines how social narratives shape ideas of gender, Self and emotional expression.
Working through an intuitive and experimental process, Vaughan uses color to create emotional atmosphere while abstract forms suggest shifting ideas of identity and awareness. She works in mixed media, often incorporating materials such as oil pastels, acrylics, topographic maps, wood and wire.
Her work invites viewers to pause, reflect and encounter something both familiar and quietly emotional within themselves as she continues her pursuit of mastering the human Self through art.
“Vaughan explores the tension between control and surrender, aiming to awaken in the viewer an ancient, quiet, yet latent emotion.” — ArtRKL
